DVSA PRACTICAL DRIVING TEST'

Please note: Given the current waiting time for a Practical Driving Test being aprox. 5 MONTHS

Deeside Learners recommend taking and passing a DVSA THEORY TEST as soon as possible.

This is to reduce the risk of preventing a Practical Test being booked until a Theory Test has been achieved.

Overview of the DVSA Practical Driving Test:

Independent driving part of the test will take about 20 minutes.

1 in 5 will be asked to follow road signs.

4 / 5 candidates will be asked to follow directions from a sat nav

(provided and set up by DVSA Examiner).

It should be noted that the Independent Driving part of your test might be split up during your test to allow the examiner to carry out the reverse manoeuvre or the Controlled Stop etc.

Reversing manoeuvres:

There are 3 reverse manoeuvres, one of which you will be asked to carry out. These are:

1. Parallel (Reverse) Park

2. Bay Park (either Reverse or Forward into the bay)

3. Pull up, stop and reverse back 2 car lengths on the right hand side of the road,

then re-join the traffic and continue.

Answering a vehicle safety question while you’re driving

One vehicle 'safety' question will be asked before you start your test, the other question will be asked whilst you are driving round the allocated test route.
